How to block tags to prevent abuse on Instagram
On Instagram, whether you have a public or private account, you may be tagged by default in posts from third parties. Including accounts that you don’t follow or that don’t follow you back. Often, these identifications are made in the work of bots or fake accounts and fraudulent publications.
However, it is very easy to protect against it and here is the process to follow to block these signs on Instagram:

- Then, tap on the menu in the top right corner of the page with three bars or a burger menu.
- In the drop-down menu that opens, choose systems,
- Then select privacyScheduled by a lock,
- Then choose Publications,
- Finally, in Who can identify you?desire Everyone Checked with Undo, select People you follow Put an end to inappropriate identities.
At the same time, you can be mentioned in the comments of a post. Again, you can easily block these tips:
- Follow the same path and go systemsAfter privacy,
- Please choose refers toA little below Publications,
- Check permission to specify People you follow.
An alternative to manual identification on Instagram
Manual approval of identities can also be selected. You’ll be notified when an account wants to identify you, so you can manually approve or disallow it. To do this:
- Follow the same procedure as described above,
- Under the question Who can identify you?In Identified publicationsSelect Validate IDs manually,
- Then if you tick the manual mark, you will also see the pending marks on this page whether to be verified or not.
On Instagram, an army of bots is widely recognized
March 2023 was marked by massive signs of fraudulent posts carried out by an army of bots. These fake accounts try to tag thousands of Instagram users by impersonating the Sheen brand, a fast-fashion leader. These posts invite people to click on their story by dangling gift cards, which is obviously a scam. By the end of 2022, already, fraudulent stories have turned users into Sheen brand ambassadors.
