HONEYWELL says it is providing virtualisation technology for its Experion Process Knowledge System, for streamlining system management.
Experion is used to integrate plant subsystems such as process control, asset management and safety and security, for an overall view of how the plant is functioning.
According to the company, many manufacturers currently need to use separate servers to support different applications. Virtualisation allows a single server to simultaneously run multiple operating systems and applications.
Virtualisation, when used with Experion, is said to improve server utilisation rates, reduce disruptive operating system and hardware changes and simplify overall system management.
The virtualised offerings include an off-line testing and development solution that can be used for training, simulation and engineering. The Advanced Alarm Management solutions and eServer products can also be virtualised.
