Micrel, represented by Soanar in Australia, launched a line of constant current boost-switching controllers.
The controllers are designed to power strings of high-power LEDs, such as solid-state lighting, emergency illumination, and constant current power supplies.
The MIC323x family can be dimmed via a pulse width modulated (PWM) input signal and features an enable pin for low-power shutdown.
They also offer over voltage protection (OVP), thermal shutdown, and under-voltage lock-out (UVLO).
The MIC3231 offers a dither feature to assist in the reduction of EMI, which is useful in sensitive EMI applications and provides for a reduction of emissions by approximately 10dB.
The MIC3230/1 are offered in both the 16-pin EPAD TSSOP and 12-pin (3 mm x 3 mm) MLF packages.
The MIC3232 is a 400kHz fixed frequency device offered in a small 10-pin MSOP package.
Additional features include a 6- to 45-volt input supply range, programmable LED drive current, separate enable shutdown, frequency synchronization with other MIC3230s, and the ability of driving up to 70 watts.
