SIEMENS has released the Simatic CPU 317TF-2DP controller which implements motion control, safety and standard tasks.
According to the company, the controller uses PLCopen-compatible motion control blocks, and are suited for coupled motion sequences of multiple axes.
The device may be used for various applications, from controlled single-axis positioning to complex and synchronised sequences of motion, such as geared synchronous motion.
The synchronous axes of the controller can be coupled to a virtual master or a real master.
The manufacturer also offers the Step 7 option package S7-Technology, for engineering purposes for programming and commissioning. This package allows simultaneous processing of up to 64 technology objects.
Centralised and distributed fail-safe I/O and PROFIsafe compatible drives can be connected to the controller. Drive safety functions such as SBC, SLS, SSM, SOS, SS1, SS2, and STO according to PROFIsafe can be used in addition to the familiar safety functions.
