The MathWorks announced Simulink 3D Animation, which lets engineers and scientists visualise dynamic system simulations in a three-dimensional, virtual reality environment.
Formerly known as Virtual Reality Toolbox, Simulink 3D Animation provides an interface between MATLAB and Simulink, as well as virtual reality graphics.
Users can change position, rotation, size, and other properties of objects in the virtual world, enabling them to observe the dynamic behavior of their systems.
Simulink 3D Animation includes a viewer for rendering detailed virtual scenes and playing animations.
Features include the ability to link Simulink models with virtual reality worlds, enabling visualisation and tracking of 3D object motion; tools for building, modifying, and viewing virtual reality worlds; video recording and animation playback; visualisation of real-time simulations; connection to joysticks and 3D mice; and client/server architecture, enabling collaboration among teams in multiple locations.
Simulink 3D Animation is available for Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Linux, and Macintosh.
