ORGANISERS of The Safety Show Sydney, held in October 2009, have declared it a success with over 10,000 visitors.
The visitor numbers were despite the economic conditions, prompting speculation from the hosts of even more impressive occupational health and safety events as the economy rebounds in 2010.
The Safety Show Sydney and Sydney Materials Handling trade shows featured hundreds of occupational health, safety and materials handling specialists across three and a half acres at the Sydney Showground.
Around 1000 visitors attended seminars by Safe Work Australia and Deacons law firm explaining the draft OHS laws.
Statistics provided by the organisers show one in four visitors were from the manufacturing sector, one in five from government and 15% came from the building and construction sector.
According to Australian Exhibitions & Conferences, the 10,162 visitors in 2009 represents a growth from the 9867 visits the two shows saw in 2008, defying the economic downturn.
Safety In Action will take place in Melbourne during April 2010, while the WA Safety Show will return in August, followed by The Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling in October.
