INTERWORLD has released the RTC-840 Series rugged tablet computers from Aaeon, housed in a military-standard water and dust proof for operation in harsh environments.
According to the distributor, the product supports Windows XP Embedded and handwriting recognition, allowing it to be used for applications requiring a portable data input device. It has 6.5 hours of battery life.
The computer is based on the Intel 945GME chipset, and supports Intel Core Duo ULV 1.2GHz processors, a 533MHz FSB and up to 2GB of 200-pin DDRII 533/667 SODIMM memory.
The 8.4” SVGA TFT LCD display has a built-in touch screen or may be fitted with an optional digitizer and a numeric keypad with programmable function keys.
The unit includes one RS-232 com port, two USB 2.0 ports, one Mini-USB port, one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, one RJ-11 Modem port and onboard 802.11a/g wireless LAN and Bluetooth support.
The system may be expanded via PCMCIA and CompactFlash card sockets.
