Rockwell Automation's code blocks for managing energy

ROCKWELL Automation says its Connected Components Building Blocks can provide customers with the information required to quickly implement common control tasks in machine designs.

Connected Components Building Blocks are pre-written blocks of application code for PLCs. They can be modified to meet the precise needs of a given machine.

These blocks can be used to speed up setups of operator interfaces, and reduce the complexity involved in implementing speed control tasks.

Rockwell Automation has now developed four Connected Components Building Blocks catering to energy management.

A building block for the Base Powermonitor 1000 System provides a local display for a separate stand-alone touch screen, providing navigation to metering parameters.

The Plant Power Metering System building block provides a single view of power meters in the plant over a EtherNet/IP network. One colour PanelView Component 600 can be used to view up to five Powermonitors.

W.A.G.E.S. Energy Solution building block provides 10 discrete and four analogue inputs to monitor water, air, gas, electric and steam.

Capacitor Bank Controller building block allows plants to take advantage of controls for turning on/off capacitor banks to maintain a good power factor.
