BOSCH REXROTH has introduced pneumatic bellow actuators in its BCS and BCE series, said to be resistant to weather and many environmental influences.
According to Rexroth, unlike conventional pneumatic cylinders, bellow actuators do not have a piston rod, reducing the installation height of the actuator.
The BCE series comes with bellow actuators with working diameters for 150mm to 385mm, while the BCS series actuators have actuators of 150mm to 400mm. Strokes are up to 273mm, and forces range from 0 to 71.2kN.
The BCE series of pneumatic bellow actuators have epichlorohydrin rubber construction, rendering them highly resistant to media, acids, and oil, and various chemicals such as acetone, fuels, and grease.
Rexroth claims the bellows have no mechanical friction surfaces that move against one another, unlike seals. The cylinders are therefore wear-free despite the presence of dirt, dust, granulate and mud. They can also operate in a temperature range from -20°C to +130°C.
The cylinders in the BCS series are equipped with a passivated plate made of 1.4301 stainless steel. Rexroth says this cylinder is resistant to corrosion and acids, as well as many detergents.
