Motorola has launched the FR68, a new handheld incorporating rugged construction, compact design, and 3G connectivity.
The Motorola FR68 is a part of the enterprise mobile computer class and includes an extra sturdy casing and inner construction.
The FR68 is rated for .9 metre drops onto concrete and passes the IP54 rating for dust sealing. The antennae is integrated within the casing for extra protection.
The handheld features a compact design and a 2.8” QVGA, or 320 x 240 resolution, touchscreen.
The device operates on the Windows Mobile platform, enabling compatibility with most existing systems and integration with a wireless network.
3G connectivity enables instant positioning, two-way communications beyond a standard wireless network, and mobile phone capabilities.
Running on a 624MHz processor, 128MB of RAM, and 256MB of Flash memory, the Motorola FR68 also features 1D and 2D barcode scanning; WWAN, WLAN, and IrDA connectivity; a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash; optical character reading; backlit full 52-key QWERTY keyboard; Windows Mobile 6.1 platform; a long life rechargeable Lithium battery; and Bluetooth.
The handheld is geared toward use in field force automation, track and trace, logistics, transportation, and fleet management.
