TREOTHAM Automation has released the Wieland Samos PRO safety controller system for machine and plant applications.
The system consists of the SP-SCON controller with integrated programming/diagnostic interface, gateway, and a series of SP-SDIO or SP-SDI I/O modules.
According to the distributor, because the modules used are 22.5mm wide, a functional programmable safety system can be constructed with a total width of 45mm.
The controller module has serial interface and exchangeable program memory, while the gateway is used for bi-directional data communication. The SP-SDIO expansion module has eight inputs and four outputs, while the SP-SDI has eight inputs.
The communication gateways can utilise various protocols, including CANopen, Devicenet, Profibus, TCP Ethernet, and IP Ethernet.
The company says the system can process up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs at the same time, for multiple sensors. Switch-off times are less than 10 milliseconds.
