TURCK has enhanced its analog+ proximity sensors to allow differentiation between varying types of metal during detection.
According to the company, the material detection sensors can now detect different types of metal, regardless of their distance from the sensor.
The units are available in ring and flat housings, and provide sensing ranges up to 11mm in temperature ranges between -10 to 70°C.
The manufacturer says they are suited for automated stamping, die cutting and metal sorting applications, which require accurate detection of different metal types.
The product has sensors which use inductive coils. The coils’ RF fields are influenced differently for each metal type. The signal difference is then converted into a 0 to 10VDC analogue signal to signify which type of metal is being detected.
