WORKSAFE Victoria investigators are investigating the death of a 60-year-old worker killed on 10 January 2010 after a forklift load fell and hit him.
The incident, Victoria’s first work-related death in 2010, occurred at the AirRoad premises in Laverton.
According to the safety authority, the man was guiding a forklift driver in removing computer equipment from the back of a semi-trailer. The load weighed around 200kg and stood about 2m high, was on castors and was not mounted on a pallet.
The organisation says forklifts are among the state's most dangerous machines, accounting for 57 deaths since 1985. 16 of those deaths involved loads falling from the forklift.
