ABB's enclosure range has been developed with a new material to ensure structural and environmental stability in harsh environments.
ABB has announced a new development in their IP55 range of enclosures and junction boxes.
The enclosures are available in ten sizes - internal dimensions from 100 x 100 x 80mm to 310 x 240 x 160mm and incorporate a time saving quarter turn lid screw on some models.
A new gasket material has been developed with the IP55 enclosures to ensure structural and environmental stability in harsh environments.
Many years of development has enabled ABB to patent a process to produce the lid and gasket in a single pressing.
The enclosures utilise a thermoplastic material, self extinguishing in compliance with UL94 V-2, and are resistant to abnormal heat and fire up to 960o C (glow wire test) in compliance with IEC695-2-1.
Some models are available with a cover manufactured from a transparent polycarbonate material for those applications where visibility of the internal components is vital.
Metal base plates are also available for convenient mounting of apparatus.
These enclosures are suitable for demanding environments having an operating temperature range from -25 o C to +75 o C and are shock resistant up to 6 joules.
They are also highly resistant to chemical and atmospheric agents.
Applications include electronics, machine tools, electrical wiring and a variety of industrial requirements where it is necessary to enclose electrical equipment economically and reliably.
