DEMATIC has introduced the ErgoPall system for ergonomically building mixed product pallet loads.
According to the company, the product incorporates sequencing software which delivers cases to operators in the order they need. The operator then slides the cases into position on the empty pallet, which is positioned at an ergonomic height.
The manufacturer claims this solution virtually eliminates lifting. As each layer of cases is completed, the system lowers the pallet so the next layer can be assembled at the same height as the previous one.
When the build is complete, the pallet is automatically stretch-wrapped as it is lowered through the mezzanine floor with a lift.
The station can be run with one or two operators at a time, with each handling around 800 items per hour for faster palletising rates.
