Bürkert Fluid Control Systems has announced the Type 8650 AirLINE Ex, its modular electropneumatic automation system, which delivers electropneumatic control from directly inside a hazardous area.
The Type 8650 AirLINE Ex integrates Bürkert’s pneumatic control system with Siemens’ SIMATEC ET 200iSPTM.
With up to 88 valve functions from a single manifold (300 or 700 litre per minute air flow), the AirLINE Ex can control a wide range of process valve and pneumatic cylinder actuators in the field.
The SIMATIC ET 200iSP communicates via Profibus DP fieldbus using IS couplers, incorporating the extensive maintenance and diagnostic functionality of the Profibus system.
Building on this platform, all electrical connections configured automatically during assembly in the application. Software is configured during commissioning.
The valve bank has a very low voltage and current use, which ensures minimal heat generation, and it operates in areas with ambient temperatures between 0 and 55°C.
Fusing fieldbus, I/O, and pneumatic pilot valves, the AirLINE Ex delivers unlimited modularity and saves space, wiring, time, and compliance documentation.
The system is designed for decentralised operation in explosion-hazard areas with gas or dust atmospheres.
