ABB pushes FlexPicker IRB360

  • Published: 06/07/2009

ABB Robotics has released the FlexPicker IRB360, the robot for pick and place applications that offers 50 per cent increase in payload and 20 per cent improved cycle times.

Increased payload capacity provides the ability to handle heavier objects and accommodates the mass of sophisticated grippers required in handling diverse products.

The average cycle time performance of the IRB360 provides a competitive edge where there is a particular requirement for movement on a fourth axis. The fourth axis has an extensive work range and, due to the robot’s motion control and design, does not limit performance.

The robot has been configured to enable easy cleaning and reduced maintenance, and the smaller footprint enables it to be built into machines and production lines for many packing applications.

Complementing the new generation FlexPicker is ABB’s PickMaster software, which enables modelling for applications and assists with the optimisation of multiple robot installations.

The IRC5 controller is also an integral part of the FlexPicker robot; it is available in a panel-mounted version that offers substantial space savings and easy integration into machines and production lines.
