Water Supplier Advocate to maximise opportunities in water sector

INNOVATION Minister Senator Kim Carr says Australia’s first Water Supplier Advocate will identify opportunities in the water sector.

Mr Bob Herbert, as Water Supplier Advocate, will work with stakeholders such as waterAUSTRALIA, the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council, the Industry Capability Network, industry associations and government.

The government is anticipating significant investment by both the public and private sector in water infrastructure and systems. Current expenditure on water infrastructure projects stands at $11.7b, with another $7b planned.

Herbert, current Deputy Chairman of the ICN, has been heavily involved with industry his entire career. He was previously the Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group.

In 2004 he was granted Lifetime Recognition by the Victorian Government and the Manufacturing Industry Consultative Council for exceptional services to the manufacturing industry.
