Ultrasonic sensors

SICK has released the UC4 series of mini-ultrasonic sensors for object detection where space is limited.

The range includes a narrow ultrasonic lobe, and background suppression that is accurate down to millimetres.

The sensors detect dark and reflective surfaces, objects that are optically difficult to detect (such as polycrystalline, nitrite-coated solar cells), material with textured surfaces, reflective backgrounds, and difficult contours.

The sensors offer a combination of compactness, state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology and precise background suppression.

They feature a sugar-cube-sized compact housing, offer teach-in within seconds, and are available in NPN and PNP designs.

The sensors are also available with invertible switching output, and various operating modes including window mode or reflex switch mode.
