SkillsTech electrical HVAC training facility opened

QUEENSLAND Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson has opened the SkillsTech electrical, refrigeration and air conditioning trade training facility.

The $20m training facility is located at SkillsTech Australia’s Acacia Ridge Training Centre. The 8000m² building includes flexible workshops and specialises education spaces, laboratories and offices.

According to Minister Wilson, the training facility will be used to train and develop the skills of new apprentices, and update the skills of existing workers.

The Queensland Government claims to have committed more than $200m to address skills shortage, and developing trade and technician training facilities is part of this approach.

The building features 90 solar panels which will put power back into the grid. Two thermal chimneys will facilitate natural air circulation throughout the building.
