Shamic Sheetmetal implements stage one of lights out system

SHAMIC Sheetmetal (Aust) has made a stage one implementation of the Finn-Power Night Train FMS ‘lights out’ system.

Maxitec is providing the Night Train technology to the manufacturer of wood and gas log fire heaters.

According to Maxitec, the Finn-Power Night Train FMS is driven by software, and allows sheetmetal fabrication plants to run shifts which are practically unmanned.

Finn-Power Nigh Train FMS technology fully automates the process, from taking a blank from a pallet to where the product emerges as a finished component at the other end of the production system.

WorkCover authorities recommend one person overseeing any ‘lights-out’ scenario, although theoretically pre-set parameters on Night Train can oversee the shift through all manufacturing processes with all high-tech safety barriers in place.

According to Shamic Sheetmetal (Aust), the totally automated materials handling system means it will be able to expand its markets. It claims the technology will make it more competitive against China.
