Rockwell Automation has released I/O modules with EtherNet/IP connectivity.
The 1791ES-IB16 and the 1791ES-IB8XOBV4 modules allow users to streamline network architectures by employing industry-standard EtherNet/IP protocol for all safety, standard, and motion control communications.
The series is rated to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3)/Category 4, and uses Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) safety, making it compatible with standard Ethernet infrastructure devices, including wired and wireless technologies.
The modules enable users to control and monitor devices using a single data communications network for factory-floor standard and safety control, and enterprise-level business management systems.
The 1791ES-IB16 is equipped with 16 inputs, while the 1791ES-IB8XOBV4 comes with eight inputs and four dual-channel bipolar high-current outputs.
The modules can be configured to accommodate low and high-current applications, providing a high-level of operational flexibility.
For low-current applications, users can achieve SIL3/Category 4 status by using a single bipolar output, effectively doubling the capacity of the I/O module.
