Rockwell Automation’s new guide to deploying plantwide Ethernet/IP

ROCKWELL Automation has announced a major expansion of its reference architectures, which will aid manufacturers in deploying plantwide EtherNet/IP.

The new Converged Plantwide Ethernet (CPwE) Design and Implementation Guide (DIG) 2.0 from Rockwell Automation is said to help manufacturers converge their industrial and enterprise-level networks.

The guide is the result of a collaborative development effort from Cisco and Rockwell Automation. It provides detailed design guidance, recommendations and best practices for deploying standard EtherNet/IP network technology.

According to Rockwell Automation, by converging manufacturing and IT systems, manufacturers can enable greater business agility and innovation with a high degree of security.

The guide is based on the Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture system and Cisco's Ethernet-to-the-Factory.
