AUSTRALIAN Pump has released the Protek guard system which protects pump engines and electric motors from mechanical seal failures.
The system consists of a housing which incorporates a coupling and drive shaft which slots between the engine and the pump. If a pump seal failure occurs, the liquid will leak into the housing area, where it is diverted from travelling along the power unit’s drive shaft.
The manufacturer says the oversize slinger prevents any liquid from contacting the drive, while allowing the fluid to escape through a large weep hole.
According to the company, while simple seal failures can be repaired relatively inexpensively, they can result in catastrophic and expensive drive failures if not defected quickly.
The product is designed for use with the 2” and 3” Aussie poly pumps, which are commonly used to pump corrosive chemicals.
