PEACOCK Bros. has released an indoor positioning system that tracks, records, and monitors the activities of indoor vehicles such as forklifts and pallet stackers.
The system includes a server with OPSman software, and is accurate up to 3 cm², .
The software shows a CAD display of the warehouse, with illustrations of forklifts or other indoor vehicles moving in real-time.
The system constantly records and gathers data such as distances travelled without a load, the amount of downtime for each vehicle, and when and where impacts have occurred.
Using a patented optical image reader mounted on the top of the vehicle, called Sky-I, this tracking solution can determine the position, speed, and direction of vehicles by references to roof suspended Sky-Markers.
The optical reader communicates with a vehicle mounted mobile computer such as an Intermec CV30 or Motorola VC5090 connected to any WIFI wireless network.
The system is does not have ongoing access costs, and can be fitted in dark, cold, hot, or exposed warehouses without interference in accuracy.
The system can manage a single vehicle or an entire indoor fleet.
The OPSman software tracks the movements of indoor vehicles and produces reports on operational efficiency, downtime, heavy traffic areas and hazard zones.
An additional feature will show the areas of a warehouse that receive the most traffic, so that users can adjust work areas for maximum efficiency.
Constant real-time monitoring without error ensures that users can track and trace vehicles at any time, and control the operation if an event occurs.
Users can combine this technology with RFID readers and RFID SSCC labels to track inventory.
This system will also display the exact location of an RFID tagged pallet left in the middle of the warehouse floor.
Pallets can be stored up to six bays high or 20 pallets deep with complete visibility.
This eliminates missing stock, and allows accurate stock rotation.
