CMA Recycling, an Australian metal recycling and dezincing company, says it retains uptime at its facility thanks to ENZED’s hydraulic hoses and fittings services.
The recycling company’s largest facility is based in Ringwood, Victoria, which also houses one of only two dezincing plants in the world. The plant removes zinc from galvanised and coated steels, and the facility also recycles both ferrous and non-ferrous metals via automated processing equipment and mobile plants.
Due to the strong demand for scrap metal recycling, the plant is operating 14 hour days and a half day shift on Saturdays.
A shredding plant is at the core of the recycling operation. It is supported by a range of machinery such as scrap handlers, excavators, wheel loaders and bailing presses.
These pieces of equipment rely on hydraulics. Due to the nature of scrap metal, hoses on the hydraulic equipment are particularly vulnerable to damage, causing expensive downtime.
The recycler says it has relied on ENZED for more than 10 years to get failed pieces of equipment back on track.
A “hose doctor” services all the equipment on the site, and is familiar with all aspects of the facility, from the stainless steel transfer systems of the dezincing plant, to the scrap stockpiling loaders.
The ENZED staff member provides emergency breakdown services, and ensures in-house stocks of standard hoses for quick hose changes.
The engineer also works with the company’s technicians to identify common occurrence issues and develop preventative solutions.
According to the recycler, the support network from Parker Hannifin ensures complete coverage of its hydraulic, industrial and lubricant handling hoses and fittings at all times.
