Hofmann Engineering expands to Victoria

PERTH-based Hofmann Engineering is expanding, opening a new facility at the Finn Street Industrial Estate in Bendigo.

The expansion move comes after an $872,000 state government grant to build heavy vehicle roads in the industrial estate.

Hofmann Engineering will invest about $10m in the Victorian facility, creating up to 150 new jobs over the next five years.

The Victorian government claims developing the excess land from the 34-hectare Thales Australia-owned estate would help boost industry in Bendigo creating new jobs as other businesses moved in.

The $3.3 million estate development project involves building the eight metre-wide road that has capacity to carry gross loads of up to 200t.

Hofmann Engineering fabricates various pieces of equipment. In 2009, it bought Metaltec, which acts as a branch office in Victoria.

Update: Hofmann Engineering has emphasised that this is an expansion, not a relocation as originally stated in this article. This article has been amended to reflect this fact.
