WORKSAFE Victoria says a team of workplace bullying prevention advisers will visit small businesses, providing free advice and tools to prevent bullying.
The service will help small businesses better understand how to prevent bullying in their workplaces, according to WorkSafe Victoria.
WorkSafe Victoria say it noticed calls from employers and workers seeking bullying prevention information have increased by almost 100% in the past three months.
WorkSafe Victoria will train existing workplace health and safety consultants to provide specialist advice for small businesses on preventing and responding to bullying.
Preventing bullying is part of employers’ responsibility to provide a safe working environment to staff. Employers who fail to act on bullying and workers who engage in bullying behaviour can be held legally responsible for their actions.
