Five companies and individuals have been recognised for their industry expertise at the recent AMTIL Advanced Manufacturing Awards.

Western Australia-based Austal, manufacturer of high speed passenger and vehicle-passenger ferries, cruise vessels and a range of patrol, fast freight and offshore support vessels, took home the Advanced Manufacturer of The Year award.

Victorian Aerospace and Defence component Manufacturer, Production Parts, was recognised as Australia's Advanced Manufacturing Exporter of the Year.

Queensland company, Advanced Robotic Technologies, won the Advanced Manufacturing Innovator of the Year award for their new SMART Plasma profiling machines.

FlexiCut Engineering managing director Robbie O'Brien was awarded the Advanced Manufacturing Young Ambassador of the Year while Sheldon Vaughan, based in NSW, received the Advanced Manufacturing Designer of the Year award.

Production Parts' managing director, Peter Nicholls, said on receipt of his company's award that the Australian manufacturing industry was "alive and well".

The Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL) is a national body that represents the interests of companies specifically in the manufacturing technology and advanced manufacturing sector.
