LEAP Australia is hosting free live seminars on the Discrete Element Method for simulating bulk solids handling and process systems.

The seminars, which will take place from 30 November to 4 December 2009, will be presented by Dr John Favier.

LEAP Australia says its EDEM tool is used to simulate bulk solids handling and process systems. It features an off the shelf link to ANSYS FLUENT for one- or two-way DEM-CFD coupling.

The company is developing features for coupling the ANSYS FEA in order to pass loads from DEM simulations to ANSYS for structural analysis.

The seminars will explain how using DEM tools to simulate bulk handling system performance provides greater understanding of bulk behaviour and machinery loading.

Organisers say attendees will be able to use this knowledge to devise more reliable designs for greater efficiencies.
