GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has released version 4.0 of the firmware for its VersaMax Micro Plus controller.
According to the company, the new version expands the controller’s communications connectivity, adds high precision temperature sensing and increases the amount of devices which can be controlled.
The firmware features a new OnLine Programming feature which allows the user to edit and download logic to the PLC without stopping it. The manufacturer says this can help streamline debugging during machine commissioning.
The VersaMax Micro Plus controller now supports Ethernet Modbus TCP Client and Server protocols. Up to eight Modbus TCP channels are supported with one channel, while the remaining channels are used for Modbus TCP servers.
The new capabilities introduced by the firmware allows the units can now address applications which require the integration of variable frequency drives, motor control centres, SCADA and other Ethernet devices. They can also support High Accuracy Thermocouple/Millivolt and RTD input Modules.
