MAXON has released the GP8A planetary gearhead with 8mm diameter and a torque of 0.150Nm.

The GP8A gearhead can be coupled with 8mm brushed and brushless DC motors, and encoders.

According to the company, these 8mm products can be customised to suit particular applications. Customisation could provide them with the ability to be sterilised up to 500 times, zero backlash, or low backlash of +/- 10 arc seconds.

The GP8A planetary gearhead has a hardened stainless steel output shaft, which is supported by dual back-to-back stainless steel pre-loaded ball bearings with a 5N load carrying ability.

Maxon says the construction is strong with a single-piece shaft and planet carrier and laser welded shaft collar.
