POWER Parameters has released the Hioki 3390 power analyser suited for inverters, motor drives and on-board vehicle studies.

The Hioki 3390 is a four channel, 500 kilosamples/sec power analyser. It can be used for single, three-phase 3 wire and 4 wire systems.

The power analyser system can analyse inverter input/output efficiency, determine motor characteristics, control variable speed vector and frequency and carry out fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis.

According to Power Parameters, up to four units can be connected to provide precisely synchronized measurements.

The Hioki 3390 can measure parameters like power, apparent power, reactive power, power factor and phase angle. Using mathematical functions, it can derive motor efficiency, slip, torque, and mechanical efficiency by using an optional module.

The analyser is designed for both mains power frequency and inverter power measurements. In the waveform display mode, the instrument can be used to observe line noise and phase noise.

Power Parameters claims the Hioki 3390 has an accuracy of +/-0.1%, catering to voltages up to 1500V and current in the ranges of 20, 50, 200 and 500A.
