HBM has released the TEDSdongle for automatically configuring transducers and sensors for measurement tasks without requiring an additional amplifier.

According to HBM, the TEDSdongle extends its support of Transducer Electronic Data Sheet technology, which helps ensure measurement chains can be automatically and securely recognised and configured.

The TEDSdongle allows users to read and write TEDS information to the memory chip for configuring sensors. The data is stored according to IEEE standard 1451.4.

HBM claims the dongle can help reduce the time and costs for the set-up of a test system or test configuration when used in combination with TEDS-compatible sensors. Measurement results are reproducible due to the automatic configuration.

HBM also supplies configuration software with the TEDSdongle for automatically recognising the memory, allowing sensors to be modified and configured in the laboratory or on site.
